This Waffen-SS M40 camouflage helmet originated from the late David M collection and consists of an ET64, heat lot number 5075, which corresponds to many early production double decal M40 examples by ET. The helmet shows moderate to heavy service wear, but retains 90% of its brick red and green camouflage finish. The dominant color is a dark brick red. The 40% ET pattern runic shield has been uncovered, and the collector conserved an original, replacement leather insert where only the liner band had been. Despite this, the helmet remains a good, very fair priced example of one of the most sought after types of combat SS helmets. It is fully guaranteed original with the mentioned caveats.
