This is a mint, unissued Dachau-produced Waffen-SS Fez, as worn by the Croatian, Kosovar and other Balkan Moslem forces at war with the Serb communists on behalf of Germany and the SS. Probably one of the best representative symbols, historically speaking, of the way the RFSS was able to tap into centuries-old religious strife or conflicts between ethnic groups, in the larger war against the soviets (and continue to this day). This example was souvenir’d from Dachau, by the GI whose registration is pictured in this listing. COA accompanies.
