SOLD (rm) Tan Camouflage Luftwaffe M40 Helmet With Veteran Box

This fine tan camouflage M40 Luftwaffe helmet was sent back by the GI in a wooden box, possibly medical supply or ration type. The customs stamping is visible, as well as part of the name and unit of the GI whose surname appears to be Faher. A picture of the GI and some friends, one of whom is named, accompanies the grouping. They were obviously gathering ample souvenirs from the evidence in the picture! The helmet itself is an early enough M40 production to have been used in Afrika, and while the picture reveals very little of the terrain in the background, it is dated Feb 43 and could have been taken anywhere between Libya and Sicily. A wonderful find, with further research potential. COA accompanies.
