HOLD (bh) Outstanding Waffen-SS Officer’s M43 Cap – Statini Marked

$5,000.00

This cap is a classic later 1943-44 that was popular with SS officers as seen in many period photographs. In 1989 -90 a hoard of these were obtained among a large quantity of SS and other services’ equipment, left behind in Prague, which was a large throughput location for SS and Wehrmacht depots and ersatz-ausbildungs operations. The communist Czech government used many of these uniform items in their propaganda films, and they still bear the film studio property markings and dates. The cap is the typical single button closure, rayon lined, with white pulltabs and a size 58 marking. The Statini-Film marking is visible among other original, associated inventory marks. These caps normally have two piece stacked insignia zig-zag sewn to the front, but this one was a stripped one that has been tastefully re-badged by the collector, with a flatwire eagle and aluminum Deschler (M1-52) skull. A decent value overall considering the value of the cap, the eagle and the skull. Outstanding for display with the matching Italian material tunic, of which many exist.
