This is an example of a Heer Officer’s M40 cap, which is an upgraded enlisted cap, outfitted for officer. The upgrading consists of skillfully period applied thicker gauge piping to the scallop and crown. There is a cornflower blue soutache added above the cockade as well. The lining is imitation silk and is well-marked and dated 1940. A nametag is sewn inside. A fine example ready for the Heer field medical officer display.
