This is a sharp old-collection pickup by a friend who has a good eye for helmets. The shell is an HKP64 (marked on the side) M40, with size 56 liner untouched, along with untouched original chinstrap. The finish is that charcoal grey SE schiefergrau that is found on these helmets–not as blue-ish as the other makers’ luft helmets in my observation. The finish has some storage wear, and the liner shows some dust and age. The eagle is strong and mostly there. This one is pretty much out of the woodwork and has reportedly only been in one collection since the war. COA accompanies.
