This is an outstanding, service used M35 Polizei helmet, with strong paint, well patinated decals and a lot of character. The liner is undisturbed original to the piece, and features the inscription “W. Spahn.” A file search yielded an Oberwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Walter? Spahn who was killed in the East during the early years of that campaign. It is not known whether this was his helmet, lacking other details to compare. But it shows the types of individuals who wore these service worn police helmets; some of which were hardened anti-partisan, einsatzkommando, and other rear area combatants. Lots of character with this one. COA accompanies.
