Interesting Veteran Provenanced M1 Helmet and Japanese Souvenir Helmet
$2,250.00
This is a very unique US infantry veteran helmet and bringback souvenir. The GI helmet consists of a front seam shell with 11-row web chinstrap and the earlier blackened brass step-buckle. The liner and shell bear matching 4 digit numbers, showing they are matching. The liner bears the correct OD #3 webbing suspension material. The liner inner dome is marked with the distinctive “Firestone” corporation F. The Japanese helmet is an earlier type, that has been painted battleship grey and is adorned with place-names, ostensibly where Levia had been during the latter stages of the war and part of the occupation period. It is unclear if the helmet was decorated by a Japanese, but the likelihood is high given Japan’s impoverished condition at the war’s end, and the GI hunger for mementos of their stay. Some unit information shows Levia’s rank and unit designations. A fine GI bringback grouping. COA accompanies.
