Heer Artillery Major’s Tunic, POW
$1,475.00
This is a quite elegant Heer Major of Artillery tunic, with full lining, tailor’s label, and all insignia appearing to be fully original badged (there are a lot of loops for awards and decorations as well on this piece). On the lower rear of the fine gabardine tunic are large whitewash letters “PW,” which have faded with time. At collection points for surrendering troops, the allies would often apply a hasty recognition symbol onto the prisoner’s uniform–later they were given different clothing to wear if maintained in captivity longer than the perfunctory registration period. This is therefore a bit rare to see and must have been recovered as a souvenir by a GI early on. COA accompanies.
