Fine SS Officer’s M43 Cap

This is a fine, historic Waffen-SS Officer’s M43 cap, trapezoid insignia, that was property of the Czech ‘statini film’ establishment after the war. Prague, as a major logistics and replacement hub for the SS and LW during the war, literally had warehouses of equipment left over by the Germans. Instead of dumping it, the new Communist Cz government made use of such items for propaganda films, hence the addition of the stamps and ’50s dates. Shortly before the wall came down, Americans and Europeans were able to gain access into the warehouses and studios, bringing out troves of unused stocks of clothing and equipment. This kind of circumstance adds tremendously to the hisory and provenance of these often-overlooked items. COA accompanies.
