Cased 1914 Grand Cross, Interwar Copy

SKU: jprsg21

This is a very well-vetted elegant, fine example of a 1920s / 30s (wearer’s) copy of the 1914  Grand Cross of the Iron Cross. These crosses were not award pieces, but would have been made ostensibly as a piece for frequent dress wear, in the same manner as costume jewelry. The manufacture is faithful to the old techniques, in materials and craftsmanship. Careful examination of the cross, ribbon and case reveals excellent age patina and wear.  From a 5 decade collection of immense scope, this is one of several outstanding antique medals  among the items. A great looking piece, that can provide a suitable stand-in for the medals collection that is missing a Grand Cross example.
