Fine Waffen-SS NCO Visor Cap, ‘crush style’

This is a salty, semi crusher example of a Waffen-SS NCO visor cap, pinched at the peak and strap removed for a jaunty appearance. The cap originates from a fine European collection and has wonderful untouched features. The Assmann insignia are factory installed and by all observations undisturbed and never changed. The cap is obviously a private purchase given its quality overall. There is good service use patina throughout, and in the top of the peak, the piping wool has worn down to the cane stiffener. The initials “ST” are punched in the grey ersatz sweatband and the interior lining shows being fully stained with sweat / hair tonic. That overall beautiful undoubtedly service warrant cap and While suggesting no correlation other than similarity, I have included a picture of the famous tiger Ace Michael Wittmann shown here wearing the same type of hat with Assmann insignia.
